As the keystone of its inaugural season, Ghostlight Productions, in partnership with Historic Richmond Town, proudly presents the revolutionary musical 1776 on the 4th of July weekend at the 3rd County Courthouse at Historic Richmond Town, 441 Clarke Avenue, Staten Island.
Forty years before the musical Hamilton lit up Broadway, 1776 brought us into the room where it happened in an electrifying show about the founding of America. The musical begins with a deadlocked Congress – its attempts to declare independance from the British Crown are boiling over in heated confrontations. Somehow, our contentious Founding Fathers manage to harness their shared determination to win independence, sign a declaration to that effect and hatch a nation. Engaging, tuneful, witty and passionate, this musical shows us John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock, and so many other famous names as we’ve never seen them before — with humor and humanity. We joyously celebrate the 243th birthday of our nation this 4th of July weekend by presenting 1776 ! Join the revolution!
1776 is Directed by Gary Bradley, with Musical Direction by Andrew Monteleone. John Herron is Assistant Director, Nick Diaz is the Technical Director and the Choreography is by Anna Glenn Sparks.
